The advanced software tool for 3D biomechanics research and data management.
Model development is rapid, graphical, and unrestricted. Visual3D modeling supports Global Optimization, 6 DOF, Conventional Gait, custom marker sets, virtual markers, segments, and more. Modeling is done graphically but allows for entry of direct measurements, inverse kinematic settings, inertial properties, graphic overlay adjustments, and much more. Learn More...
In addition to metrics such as joint angles, moments, center of pressure, signal filtering, DFT, center of mass, energies, rotations, volumes, derivatives, and much more - you can also write your own computations. Full control of input parameters, Euler angles, rotation order for Cardan angles, coordinate systems, and other parameters make Visual3D the most powerful analysis tool for biomechanics available.
- Integrated Support for Force Sensors, Force Platforms, Instrumented Stairs, and
- EMG and signal processing.
- Export to OpenSim. Global optimization applied and .mot and.xml files produced.
- Comprehensive Data Management of C3D files. Subject tagging and model association allow for integrated data sets.
- External indexing allows for integrated access to libraries of data, subject, and files.

Visual3D uses published approaches to biomechanics. Several C-Motion staff were contributors to this textbook.
All product documentation is on-line and available for general access. Tutorials are there too.
Visual3D costs $12,995 USD. Visual3D comes with 4 licenses and additional licenses are $2000 each.
Web download only. When purchased, an on-line customer account is created and all software is downloaded over the Internet from www.c-motion.com. C-Motion accepts purchase orders, credit cards, bitcoin, and direct sales.
Visual3D comes with 4 licenses for use on 4 computers.
Fewer licenses (at a lower cost) are not available, however payment plans can be arranged.
Available only to Visual3D customers who maintain support, the student version is a package of 15 Visual3D licenses for $750 - BUT, they expire after a year, and must be repurchased (with support). The student version has its own downloads page.
Visual3D is a Windows application. It will run on a MAC only in a VM, like Parallels or VMWare where Windows has been installed. Be sure to turn off any hardware graphics accelerators in a MAC VM for OpenGL compatibility.
Yes, and it is free the first year. Maintaining support is $1250 USD per year. Visual3D support keeps the web download access for updates active, and allows access to C-Motion's world-class experts for biomechanics assistance.
No, Visual3D will continue to run without purchasing support, you just won't be able to get updates or research help.
A statement of C-Motion's support, user, and web access policies is available here.
A single installation file and license file are used by the entire lab. Each installed copy of Visual3D will activate its license over the Internet, limited to the number of licenses purchased. Licenses can be deactivated from the Help menu in Visual3D.
